I also really love this portrait of two sisters by Theodore Chasseriau and found it fascinating that he studied under Jean Aguste Dominique Ingres, who painted Grande Odalisque. It makes sense why these two were hanging in the same room in the Louvre.

I’ve started going through old photos taken at museums that I visited when in Paris. I’m working on a “Paris book.” This is from the Egyptian Antiquities room at the Louvre. I was fascinated by the description of Nut, the goddess of the sky who swallows the sun every evening and gives birth to the sun every morning.
